About Us

The Haymarket shopping centre opened in 1973 and was one of the earliest covered multilevel shopping centres in the country.

The centre was totally transformed in 1996/7 when the new owners embarked on a dramatic refurbishment scheme. This work turned first floor walkways into retail space, replaced the concrete roof to Centre Square with glass, moved the escalators and toilets to the opposite end of the Square, replaced old flooring with new bright tiles and erected the feature ceilings in the malls.

Today, the centre has 65 units with anchor stores Primark and TK Maxx along with H&M, Boots, Co-operative Food and Peacocks as key retailers.

The centre also has 4 kiosks for traders in Centre Square and 2 exhibition areas for commercial activity.

The average weekly footfall to the centre is 300,000.

The local authority operates a 500 space car park on the second and third floors with direct access into the centre.

Most local bus services visit our bus station and Charles Street alongside the centre.
